The Sermons of John Donne

Comments

Built as part of the Centre for Early Modern Studies (CEMS) site in Drupal CMS; implemented with Tom Wrobel and Sebastiaan Verweij.

The Oxford Edition of the Sermons of John Donne will be a sixteen-volume work. This site is the online manifestation of the project and also takes a particular interest in some of the manuscripts of sermons that have been discovered since the last comprehensive edition; as such, the site will present transcriptions of a selection of the sermon manuscripts.

The design was intended to echo the Francis Bacon and Raphael Holinshed sites I had previously created, and so uses black white and red as its theme colours. It takes the London panorama by Claes van Visscher (around 1616) as its central motif, as in this the spires of the churches dominate. This skyline spreads out beyond the constraints of the site content, a capital to the column of text, and I have used St Paul's to form a cross whose shaft divides menu from content.Donne design detail
